Born in the Philippines and raised in San Francisco, Joel Yapching is the third generation in a family of tailors. Joel moved to New York to pursue fashion, working as a professional hair and makeup artist at Bayard Studio. In 2010 and 2012, Joel presented at NY Fashion Week. To continue expanding his skills, Joel freelanced on floral design with L’Olivier. At this time, Joel launched his own catering company, Spoon Botanik, focusing on ‘Mediterrasian’ cuisine and event decor.

In 2021, Joel moved to South Florida and became a certified barber stylist. He combined all of his design skills into one singular brand, X-Joel. He expresses his vision for fashion, hair, and decor with an avant-garde spirit, creating works of art that are artisanal and poetic.
